Job Objectives:

Manual labor involving a variety of duties associated with Reno County Solid Waste Management Department.

Essential Job Functions:

Mow or trim grass, weeds and other tall growth; cut trees and brush with tractor mowers. Pit spotting at the MSW and Demo Sites. Maintain written records and daily time sheets. Pick up loose paper and other debris. Must be able to report for work outside of the regular scheduled hours including overtime, when necessary to maintain effective operation of the Solid Waste Management Department. Observe, at all times, safe working conditions around and with landfill construction, maintenance equipment and Solid Waste Management equipment. Must be aware of safety when working in areas also used by the driving public. Field repairs on equipment, adhere to safety concerns on the job and normal cleanup around work areas.

Equipment:

Operate all job-related machinery, equipment, tools and other aids as required, necessary or needed in the performance of these job functions.

Work Environment:

5% indoors and 95% outdoors. Will be exposed to summer heat and winter cold. Road machinery noises may be very intense at times. Work area may be dusty, occasional exposure to poisonous insects, animals and plants. Exposure to inclement weather conditions. Some exposure to exhaust fumes from equipment in truck shed and shop. At times will work in close proximity of public traffic. Periodic use of materials, which have an MSDS report on how to safely handle them. All use of equipment (hand operated or self-propelled) entails hazardous exposure if not operated in a safe manner.
