Overview
The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for insuring compliance with company quality standards and USDA quality standards. This includes having verification of raw material receipts, taking raw material samples, and verifying the finished, packaged product. The QA Supervisor is also responsible for the instruction, direction, and performance of the management support and hourly personnel working under his/her guidance. Team member in overall management of the facility. Expect to work on tests and pilot runs of new and improved products and evaluate the results of the pilot programs. Prepare technical reports to enhance research and development (R&D). Assist R&D in developing products that are consistent with our expectations for quality, safety, value, and wholesomeness. Responsible for taking product samples, performing various tests, and analyzing the lab results from such test samples, including trending, grading, quality, and functionality validation. Quality control personnel also participate in design reviews and provide feedback on error detection for new products and process quality.
Responsibilities
Will supervise 2 or more employees. Will provide input regarding administration of personnel functions including selection and hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments. Communicate objectives, assign tasks, and train personnel in all related work and safety activities. Maintain accurate and timely personnel records. Position is required to make recommendations for hiring, firing, promotions, and salary increases.
Responsible for an efficient and timely transition from production to sanitation process. Ensure efficient shift change and full communication of related items to supervisors. This includes accurate and timely data entry into logbooks, spreadsheets, and other recordkeeping mechanisms, along with effective verbal communication to appropriate personnel.
Ensure equipment is assembled, disassembled, cleaned properly, and is ready for production. Responsible for maintaining high standards of safety and plant cleanliness, meeting or exceeding all Company and quality control program guidelines and requirements.
Perform audits and inspections to ensure QA activities are being performed effectively, accurately, and in a timely manner, meeting or exceeding the Company’s compliance guidelines. Activities include sampling efforts, labeling compliance, inspection of equipment, facility audits, inventory audits, etc.
Ensure raw material and equipment are prepared for inspection, meeting or exceeding all sanitation guidelines. May act as a liaison with USDA to maintain compliance with all quality control programs such as SOP, SSOP, HACCP, and grade labeling programs.
Immediately report or correct any production problems during shift. Communicate to plant management any issues requiring special attention during shift. Communicate with both maintenance and production management to coordinate activities.
Provide inspection of all plant conditions and report issues to Quality Assurance Superintendent for daily group discussion. This includes monitoring and inspecting equipment operations to ensure that safe operating standards are followed and that strict sanitation and cleanliness requirements are met.
Supervise and may perform shipping, receiving, and inventory control functions. May perform backup coverage to other areas as needed.
Audit paperwork and ensure proper communication to personnel has occurred. Responsible for the proper maintenance and retention of quality assurance documents.

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
Basic math skills.
General computer knowledge and proficiency is preferred.
Experience in Microsoft Office Excel.
Demonstrated Competencies

Ability to interpret and analyze data from a wide variety of sources.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 60lbs.
This position requires walking, standing, twisting, reaching, bending, climbing, and lifting.
Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of plant production experience or equivalent is required. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.Education: High School diploma or equivalent, or verifiable ability to perform essential job functions.Department: Quality Assurance
