Aerotek Crane Technician in Gardner, Kansas

Job Title: Crane Technician

Job Description

Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at various customer locations. Be available 'on call' as part of the service office rotation and provide afterhours service as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic troubleshooting to determine the cause of equipment malfunctions.

  • Perform general post-repair audits to ensure all required safety features are functional or document deficiencies and attach a deficiency tag to the crane.

  • Document findings and make corrective recommendations to customers, including written 'Safety Notifications' for any observed or known safety concerns.

  • Consult with customers regarding repair and safety-related issues and discuss recommendations to improve their material handling applications.

  • Complete and provide proper electronic documentation utilizing established company digital tools, obtaining the customer’s signature and acceptance.

  • Generate sales leads during service calls and report them to the service office following established guidelines.

  • Read, understand, and apply the contents of all OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and other industry codes or regulations, refreshing and updating knowledge periodically.

  • Complete service reports and other required documents in a professional, accurate, neat, and legible manner, and submit them in a timely manner following established guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience involving electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair.

  • Some electronic experience preferred but not necessary.

  • Prior experience with cranes is a plus.

  • Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be willing and able to work off the ground.

  • Must be able to work varied overtime as required by customers, be available 'on call' as part of the service office rotation, and be able to travel and work out of town occasionally.

  • Must be prepared to work in any weather condition.

Work Environment

This position involves repairing cranes in various intermodal settings, both indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Most work will be inside manufacturing environments. You must not be afraid of heights as work can be performed from 50 ft to 300 ft in the air. The typical workday is 14 hours from key on to key off, usually working 10 hours Monday through Friday, and Saturdays as needed.
