Olgoonik a general construction company specializing in facilities construction, renovation, and repair, is seeking candidates for the position of Project Manager/Estimator. This is a full-time, year-round position with commensurate salary and benefits.
+ Participate in scoping sessions with the client and produce detailed estimates and technical narratives to present and negotiate with the client. Work to achieve mutual acceptability in order to obtain a contract.
+ Must be flexible in various estimating templates as needed by the client which will range from MS Excel spreadsheets to packaged software (e4Clicks/RS Means).
+ Produce subcontractor bid packages, select subcontractors and suppliers based best value, issue contracts and administering and overseeing subcontractor activities. Coordinate with field personnel to ensure expectations are met.
+ Review subcontractor material, approved submittals and shop drawings and check construction for compliance.
+ Produce in-house production reports, critical path schedules, schedules of value, progress reports, etc. as required to effectively manage several projects at once.
+ Coordinate with clients (primarily Federal Government) to ensure successful completion of projects and client satisfaction.
+ Exercise good judgment in utilizing the necessary authority to properly manage and execute construction contracts.
+ Coordinate field work with other project managers and superintendents.
+ Assure red line (as-builts) drawings are kept up to date in the field.
+ Participate in the company safety program.
This position is responsible for supervision of assigned employees and subcontractors.
Education and/or Experience:
+ Ten years' of experience in engineering, construction, or similar field with emphasis in project management and estimating for small to medium sized maintenance, repair and minor construction projects.
+ Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction management is preferred but extensive experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
+ Must have experience working with estimating, cost control and scheduling.
+ Experience and training must include understanding of construction methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Applicants must possess excellent communication skills and be adept in managing multiple construction contracts from concept to completion. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to positively interact with colleagues, client and subcontractors to achieve mutual goals.
+ Basic knowledge of administration and management. Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment. Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills are required.
+ Must have the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong-to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.
+ Must be able to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
+ Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
+ Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software.
+ Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team.
+ Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
+ Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
