Essential Functions –

+ Teach assigned courses in political science which may include American Government, State and Local Government, International Relations, Comparative Politics, and World Geography. Teaching assignments may include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems such as online and off-campus.

+ Plan, implement, and sponsor appropriate activities to supplement instruction.

+ Assist in selecting textbooks, developing/updating curricula, completing reports, tracking/entering assessment data, and contributing to program review/strategic planning.

+ Maintain skills in teaching methods and course development as recommended by HutchCC. Participate, as possible, in professional development activities at the college and within state and regional organizations.

+ Recruit students for political science classes. This includes meetings with students who come for campus visits; develop recruitment brochures/mailings/displays/letters as needed. Plan, organize, advertise, and host campus recruiting events.

+ Serve actively on institutional committees.

+ Maintain records and files as requested by the department and/or Vice President of Academic Affairs.

+ Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.

+ Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary –

+ Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chairperson, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, or as specified in the local Master Agreement.
