Exercise support staff for simulation driven command post exercises train Brigade, Division, and Corps Commanders and their staffs during Warfighter exercises. As an Air WAC, theindividual is assigned as part of a planning team for an exercise rotation from the initial planning through Warfighter (WFX)/Mission Rehearsal Exercise (MRX) completion and After Action Review process.TheAir WAC assists the Exercise CONPOC with preparation of the Air portion of Opposing Force orders, Simulation Control Plans, and other contract deliverables in support of Mission Command Training Program Seminars, Warfighter, and Mission Rehearsal Exercises. Participates as necessary in the Joint Exercise Life-Cycle (JELC) planning events, working side-by-side with other members of the Exercise and Simulation Support Directorates and the Scenario Design Division to plan and execute an MCTP Exercise rotation. During exercises, directs activities of assigned subordinates in reviewing and translating written operational orders and combat instructions for input into the simulation. Monitors units assigned in the simulation and role-plays their status and combat activities to command post players. Performs actions to ensure a fluid and accurate simulation game is presented to exercise units.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares computer simulation with exercise scenario planned command and control graphics.

  2. Prepares computer simulation by placing units assigned into doctrinal formations, ensuring they are properly situated to the terrain and are a tactically correct representation based on combat orders and the scenario.

  3. Ensures game fidelity is maintained throughout the exercise period.

  4. Inputs computer orders and generates reports as directed.

  5. Keeps command post players apprised of current and unusual activity.

  6. May deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations.

Basic Qualifications:

a. Bachelor's Degree 6 Years Work Experience or Master's Degree 4 Years Work Experience

b. Familiar with current Army/Joint doctrine.

c. Military experience, with an emphasis on, planning and conducting Fixed Wing and/or Rotary Wing Tactical Operations.

d. Highly proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)

Security: Must have, or be able to obtain, a DoD SECRET Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

a. US Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or MEL 4 equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE).

b. Retired Field Grade Officer, Warrant Officer, or Senior NCO.

c. Two years experience in design, planning, configuration, and conduct of large-scale computer simulation exercises.

d. Previous experience in computer assisted simulation training. Experienced in WARSIM simulation.

e. Brigade or higher staff officer experience.

f. Prior experience as an Observer Controller/ Trainer.
