About the Position: This is a permanent full-time position located at the Regional Health Command Center, Smith Dental Clinic, Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Coordinate, prepare, and monitor dental readiness based on documented patient needs.
Schedule and route patients for service as required.
Provide technical advice and assistance to dental clerks on scheduling.
Create, copy, edit, store, and receive a variety of narrative and tabular material.
File and retrieve patient records and radiographs.
Maintain a variety of recurring reports related to dental activities.
Receive scheduled and walk-in patients.
Review dental records for completeness and accuracy prior to and following treatment.
Receive incoming telephone calls.
Maintain patient records, assemble and file x-rays and laboratory reports.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) assisting with the filing and retrieving of patient records; (2) coordinating patient schedules; and (3) assisting with preparation of correspondences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). Qualified Typist Requirement: In addition to meeting the experience or education requirements, for all positions titled as Office Automation or any clerical positions which has parenthetical title of Office Automation (OA), applicants must have typing proficiency of 40 words per minute (wpm) based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
