Army Installation Management Command Maintenance Worker (MVO) NA-07 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
Summary This position is located at the Child Development Center at Fort Leavenworth, KS. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. Management has the right to assign staff to locations as mission requires. This position is eligible for the NAF benefits package and leave accrual. *A recruitment incentive of $1,000 & An incentive award of $1,000 (Please see the Additional Information Section for further details) * Responsibilities Performs minor grounds maintenance to include ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces under playground structures are maintained according to safety requirements. Position requires the skills and knowledge to perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis. Documents all drills in writing. Employee is responsible to notify the supervisor of obvious hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, and other situations that may impact work operations. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation.Exposed to dirt and fumes.Also works in a kitchen setting and exposed to the possibility of cuts Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Requires a valid state driver's license (Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15-passenger vehicle OR Requires a commercial driver's license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24-passenger vehicle.) Highly Preferred candidates will possess the following: A valid Class B CDL with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsement. Documentation must be provided to support the highly preferred criteria. PLEASE NOTE: Selectee may take up to 3 months to obtain a CDL with endorsements. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials: This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Foreign Overseas Allowances Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility. Incentives and Bonuses: Incentives may be paid. A recruitment incentive of $1,000 when on-boarded, paid in one lump-sum payment. If the employee leaves employment for any reason prior to remaining in the NA-07 Maintenance Worker (MVO) position for a full 12 months, the incentive must be paid back in full. An incentive award of $1,000 after being on-board in the position for one (1) year with no pending disciplinary actions. Other: This is a Regular Full-Time position with a minimum work week of 40 hours per week and eligible for benefits.
