JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: CASA ADVOCATE COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The CASA Advocate Coordinator provides professional staff support to CASA advocates ensuring that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy. The Advocate Coordinator is responsible to recruit, screen, train, and supervise advocates.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

ADVOCATE RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING

  • Coordinate advocate recruitment and screening.
  • Schedule and coordinate training and in-service classes, acting as moderator and/or presenter in coordination with the CASA Director.
  • Aide in the implementation of advocate in-service training.
  • Schedule and facilitate advocate pre-service training.

CASE MANAGEMENT

  • Assist in advocate assignments.
  • Assist in or perform casework as needed, serving as a special advocate working directly with at risk children and low-income families.
  • Maintain accurate advocate work and performance records.
  • Keep advocate and case files and database up to date and complete.
  • Keep current schedule of upcoming court dates and case plan meetings.
  • Attend all court hearings with the advocates assigned.
  • Attend case plans and other meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with DCF and its contractors, and other agencies involved in cases.
  • Report to the Director on advocate performance.

VOLUNTEER SUPERVISION

  • Make monthly contact with assigned advocates; document all contacts with advocates.
  • Assist advocates in preparation, editing, and distribution of reports to the court.
  • Provide assistance and consultation as needed and when requested by the advocate.
  • Oversee the completion of the advocate monthly report forms, ensuring that the CASA office receives a monthly written report from each advocate.
  • Consult with DCF and contracting agencies regarding child/family needs and advocate
  • Report to the Director on advocate performance.
  • Schedule and attend advocate support meetings.
  • Prepare monthly CASA advocate newsletter and quarterly supporter newsletter.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Maintain confidentiality.

Attend at least twelve hours of continuing education each year including conferences, workshops, etc. in order to maintain knowledge of current theory, literature, legislation and resources.

Assist in the planning of advocate recognition events.

Complete appropriate documentation as required.
