Actalent Safety Specialist in Edwardsville, Kansas

Description:

Actalent is seeking a Safety Specialist that has construction experience. This person would be excited to work on Cooling Towers and want to continue to grow their career in safety.

  • Promote safety awareness and safety culture

  • Provide leadership and assist in management of all aspects of safety and health at multiple construction projects, ensuring regulatory compliance with company H&S requirements by employees and subcontractors

  • Coordinate the activities of remote Site Health and Safety Coordinators including site safety training programs and tools

  • Prepare Accident Prevention Plans (APP), site-specific health & safety plans (HASP), and all necessary documentation required by OSHA and client specification

  • Conduct periodic safety inspections/audits as required and document corrective actions as required

  • Conduct accident investigations and prepare reporting in accordance with client and company requirements, maintain OSHA 300 logs

  • Assist in maintaining company compliance with third-party prequalification providers such as ISNetworld, PEC Premier, PICS, Browz, etc

  • Complete required safety information for client pre-qualification questionnaires and/or documentation

  • Assist in reviewing and clarifying bid documents for project safety requirements

  • Assist in selecting and pre-qualifying subcontractors for work on projects

  • Coordinate and maintain company compliance with GHS standards and MSDS conversion

  • Maintain and update employee safety training database

  • Client communication

  • S&H questions from supervisor, site safety, client, etc

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of construction safety standards

  • 1 year of health and safety experience on construction projects or facility safety

  • Construction OSHA 30 and 510 preferred

  • CHST preferred

  • Certified safety profession (CSP) preferred

  • Ability to communication effectively with customers, field construction and management

  • Sense of urgency and highly responsive

  • Ability to make quick an quality decisions

  • Ability to work in highly interactive team environment
