Newman University Assistant Professor of Agribusiness (half-time) in Dodge City, Kansas

Position to start August 2024 and will be based in Dodge City/Garden City, KS.

The School of Business and Technology at Newman University, Wichita, KS, is seeking a half-time Assistant Professor of Agribusiness to develop and teach courses in Agribusiness, as well as Business Administration, with the potential to teach other courses as assigned. The faculty member will assist the Dean and Program Director in overseeing the ongoing development and revision of courses and curriculum to ensure they are current with developing trends in the field and with employer expectations. The faculty member will also be responsible to participate in student advising, student recruitment and retention efforts, ongoing professional development, university service, and engagement with campus and community partners.

Faculty members contribute to the effectiveness of the University by working collaboratively on instructional policy, curriculum development, and staff development. They are models of educated persons, exemplifying the virtues they seek to inspire in students -- curiosity, tolerance, honesty, fairness, and respect for diversity. In addition to a teaching load of 12 credit hours per academic year (for half-time), our faculty also advise and mentor students both academically and professionally.

Work Performed:

  • Pursue excellence in course development and instruction — including both online and face-to-face delivery methods.

  • Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Assist with the ongoing assessment and improvement of courses and the curriculum.

  • Participate in the development of strong campus and community partnerships.

  • Assist in cultivating strong relationships with key external academic partners, including regional high schools, community colleges, and other relevant entities.

  • Assist in cultivating strong relationships with regional employers and corporate partners.

  • Contribute a professional culture of collaboration, trust, and accountability by maintaining responsive, professional, and positive communication with faculty, staff, and students.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

  • An earned Master’s degree or higher in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Evidence of strong collaboration skills

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

    Preferred Qualifications

  • A terminal degree in A gribusiness, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching

    Benefits

  • Position is a half-time 9-month contract.

  • Benefits starting after first 30 days.
