Merck IT Technical Analyst - Automation in De Soto, Kansas

Job Description

The IT Technical Analyst - Automation will work as a member of the IT team at Midwest regional Animal Health manufacturing sites (Ames, IA; De Soto, KS; Elkhorn, NE; Worthington, MN). The TA will support the modernization of core shop floor systems to provide better standardization and resiliency in our AH manufacturing sites, and to drive business strategies and analytics. This includes the digitization and automation of solutions like data historians, process control and automation systems, as well as plant and facilities management solutions. This position will also support the operational integrity of the solutions, including systems life cycle methodology documents, standard operating procedures, change management and data integrity.

This position will work closely with various project implementation teams that include Platform Leads, Automation Engineers and Architecture and Infrastructure teams for overall solution implementation. The candidate must also be able to function independently and have excellent communication skills while being accountable for quality of work product and on-time delivery.

Day to day activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership – Support, design and implement strategic, aligned and compliant solutions to support business initiatives. Support the leadership vision, strategy and policy for building a high performance engagement model with the business units.

  • Relationships - Build exceptional relationships with stakeholders which are focused on meeting the business needs.

  • Global - Ensure that the solutions are aligned with Animal Heath IT platforms and support our company strategy.

  • Diversity - Respect diversity on project teams, different perspectives, ideas, knowledge while working towards a common goal.

  • Change Management - Adopt high quality change management practices with customers and stakeholders, and implement solutions that are sustainable. Be a role model of our company leadership behaviors.

  • Develop domain expertise in key supply chain and manufacturing business processes, systems, and data.

  • Support standardization of data historian implementation, aligned with both the deployment of new or upgraded manufacturing assets and the retrofit of integration with existing automated assets.

  • Align with sites to implement modernization projects as part of a broader Animal Health Resiliency program based on approved scope and timeline.

  • Apply standard systems life cycle and other IT processes/methods, practices and techniques to deliver process integration solutions.

  • Build strong partnerships with platform groups, IT Hubs, and others in support of resiliency and modernization objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in software engineering, computer science or related field.

  • 1 + years of related work experience with demonstrated ability to deliver IT solutions.

  • 1 + years relevant work experience with manufacturing/supply chain IT platform areas

  • Understanding of shop floor systems like data historian software tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • SAP ECC and OSIsoft PI knowledge.

  • Eagerness and high energy to observe our company’s leadership behaviors, especially network leadership and a culture of collaboration.

  • Knowledge of interfacing to manufacturing automation systems.

  • Ability to develop new opportunities & build/justify business cases.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.

  • Ability to work in a global matrix organization spanning multiple geographic regions.

  • A team player who places great emphasis on collective achievements and team diversity.

  • Ability to engage with software vendors and third party solutions integrators.

  • Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC).

  • Experience with implementing solutions in a GxP-regulated environment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25% travel. Primarily to Mid West regional sites.
