REQUIREMENTS: Current Kansas LPN or RN License and CPR certification
JOB DUTIES IN THE NURSING CENTER:
- Resident care. This includes assistance with ADLs including dressing, bathing, toileting, oral care, transfers and transports. Additional tasks will depend upon position, training and licensing, but resident care is the primary and essential task of every person in this department. If not involved in additional tasks, all nursing staff should be engaged in direct resident care. Urgent needs of residents such as a resident falling, an acute medical emergency, toileting, or answering call lights, or transfers to the hospital take priority over all other tasks, breaks, or schedules.
- Assessment and monitoring of residents. Rounds should be done at least once per shift on every resident, where resident and room are visually inspected by the charge nurse.
- Communication with family and physicians regarding significant changers, current status new orders or questions.
- Supervise CMAs and CNAs. This may involve inspection of residents work areas, conflict resolution, counseling with staff, training and completion of employee observation reports or coaching forms. Leadership is action, not position, teamwork, patience, respect, compassionate care, hard work and initiative are best shown by example.
- Ensure adequate staff by previewing staff for upcoming shifts, calling in staff and making schedule adjustments as necessary.
- Give report to oncoming shift promptly.
- Prepare and pass all medications by injection, narcotics, IV (if Certified) or G-Tube. Night nurse to make laxative list of day shift.
- Prepare and pass all other medications per policy and delegate to CMA(s).
- Order medications and supplies as needed or delegate, count narcotics every shift.
- Inform DON and physician of significant changes in residents condition.
- Inform DON and administrator of any death, serious injury, property damage or abuse/neglect allegations within thirty minutes.
- Assess and refer employee injuries for treatment, collect Employee Incident Form and forward to office immediately if possible, for the beginning of the next business day. If employee is to be seen by a MD\< send transitional work forms.
- Make recommendations to DON and administrator of needs of facility.
- Update care plans as needed.
- Document on residents per policy before leaving at end of shift if possible.
- Communicate with other departments regarding needs or concerns.
- Addition duties as assigned by DON.
- Comply with the Facilitys personnel and safety policies and procedures.
Drug test will be done.
