Summary:Supervises the paint functions by planning, scheduling, assigning and monitoring\ the work of assigned staff.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises two or more full-time employees, or their equivalent, on a regular basis.
- Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or\ makes related recommendations that are given particular weight.
- Schedules, assigns, plans and supervises the work of paint shop personnel performing a\ variety of sandblasting, painting and assembly projects.
- Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of painting\ expenditures and procedures for equipment maintenance.
- Estimates material and labor.
- Monitors the acquisition and use of materials.
- Maintains time, payroll and material records and submits reports as required.
- Trains or informs employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety\ regulations and work policies.
- Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes shop expenditures to stay within budget;\ assists in preparation of capital and operations budgets.
- Diagnose equipment issues and make recommendations to best suit company needs.
Requirements & Skills:
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the auto body trade.
- Skill in the preparation and application of paints to different types of surfaces and to\ different scales especially using industrial grade materials.
- Skill in estimating time and material requirements of work projects assigned.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- At least 5 years experience in auto body and coating or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication
- Knowledge of the use of tools based on both metric and English measurements
- Knowledge of to operate various power tools and equipment
- Ability to make mathematical calculations involving decimals, fractions, addition,\ subtraction, division and multiplication.
- Ability to make measurements in units of inches, feet and yards.
- Ability to work independently, follow written and verbal instructions, and work\ cooperatively with personnel.
- Ability to effectively complete timesheets and work orders.
