This position exists to provide skilled mechanical work for the maintenance and repair of equipment in support of KDOTs construction and maintenance activities. It also provides skilled welding and fabrication work. Additionally, this position completes work orders and handles the procurement of parts including ordering and tracking.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Performs a full-range mechanical overhaul & repair of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, and equipment. This includes occasional repairs in the field.
Diagnoses malfunctions and troubleshoots to determine the cause of failure on complex systems, including but not limited to, hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
Makes working diagnosis of mechanical failure by means of specialized testing equipment and visual or auditory checks.
Performs tune-up, electrical repairs, and maintenance/adjustment on both automotive and heavy-duty equipment.
