Company Overview:Wolf Creek Generating Station is Kansas\' only nuclear power generating station, providing electric generation for Evergy and KEPCo. Wolf Creek has been safely providing clean, reliable energy to the citizens of Kansas and Missouri since 1985. What we are looking for:Wolf Creek has an immediate opening for a full-time Engineer I through Principal Engineer, to work within the Nuclear Engineering group based in Burlington, KS. The position is for a Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Engineer, with the predominant responsibility to update PRA models consistent with the as-built plant. More details are provided below.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
PRA Engineer in the Nuclear Engineering group - responsible for the following:
perform system level plant walkdowns
develop fault tree models
document assumptions
define success criteria
identify system boundaries for purposes of PRA modeling
model system interactions/dependencies
model maintenance procedures
model system alignments
model operator actions
perform quantifications
interpret system level results
Prepare, quantify, and document plant level quantifications used for sensitivity analyses to support projects and risk-informed applications.
Perform and evaluate probabilistic risk of failures to determine minimal component system/plant risk to the public to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Perform independent reviews and analysis of industry operating experiences, reportable events, NRC issuance and other sources of plant operating experience information to identify areas for improving plant safety and operation.
Apply engineering standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, and recognize discrepancies in results to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory commitments and requirements.
Assist in cost reduction by adhering to project and departmental budget guidelines while maintaining the necessary quality of end results.
Provide technical support and engineering expertise for regulatory agency submittals, meeting and inquires.
Communicate project status to appropriate departments or personnel and advise others on engineering information relevant to all company and regulatory standards.
Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to pass vision requirements associated with Company physical in order to read detailed engineering prints and drawings and inspect equipment installations and job sites.
This position requires the ability to work in a moderately noisy environment (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
