Volt is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to work onsite for our client in Wichita, KS in a direct hire opportunity.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of new products, including research and integration of new and existing technologies. You will collaborate on the concept, design, prototyping and testing of new products and be involved with their introduction to the production process. You\'ll be part of the reason our customers consider us a premier instrument, avionics, and aircraft power solutions company.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer

, include:

  • Optimize mechanical design of new products based on competing demands of performance, size, weight, cost and time
  • Apply mechanical experience and knowledge of parts such as extrusions, sheet metal, machining, molding, electrical systems, etc.
  • Research new technologies, materials, processes or methods to incorporate into new designs
  • Develop 3D, assembly and product designs in SolidWorks, including 2D drawings and documentation
  • Design to meet regulatory compliance and qualification testing of new products
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for new and existing designs
  • Bill of Material (BOM) creation and maintenance on drawings and in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Author manufacturing work instructions for production implementation
  • Tooling/assembly fixture design and specification as needed
  • Part and vendor evaluation and qualification

This is a full-time, DIRECT HIRE opportunity.

Qualification/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum 7 years of electromechanical design and SolidWorks experience where mechanical and electrical requirements are interdependent to meet performance and test specifications.
  • Requires experience designing enclosures of electrical equipment
  • Must have advanced skills in solid modeling (3D) software using SolidWorks.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Organized, focused, and results oriented.
  • Must be a problem-solver with critical thinking and prioritizing skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary: \$90-130K annually

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate\'s education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
