Plant Manager – (East Plant) Arkansas City, KS
This is an exempt level position.
Manage, supervise, and train production staff in mills, elevators, packaging, flour storage, and flour and feed load out. Adjust and maintain process equipment in accordance with ADM Milling standards. Hire, train and develop process staff. Optimize plant productivity and milling yields, moistures, capacity and product quality. Develop and manage capital improvement projects. Maintain records in accordance with established ADM policies and procedures. Establish and maintain appropriate maintenance schedules. Work closely with commercial manager in meeting customer needs.
This Plant Manager manages, all department managers and approximately 48 union employees, and is directly responsible to the Regional Operations Manager.
Job Responsibilities :
Manage Elevator, Flour Mill, Flour Storage, Bulk Feed Loadout, Warehouse, Packaging Department, and Bulk Flour Loadout.
Provide technical knowledge for processes and equipment to obtain optimum performance.
Utilize production personnel and equipment in a safe & efficient manner to obtain maximum capacity and performance with optimum yields and quality product.
Plan, initiate and put into operation, capital improvement programs within the plant.
Drive development of operational S.O.P.s for production process.
Facilitate and ensure adherence to safety laws, regulations, rules and sound practices.
Work with location management on the continued development and implementation of Health & Safety programs, policies and procedures.
Coordinate & participate in audits, prioritizing and tracking completion of findings.
Ensure that unsafe behavior and conditions are corrected.
Incident Investigation (root cause analyzes), incident trends and related preventative measures.
Maintain the necessary Health & Safety records and documentation.
Set the example for safety. Perform Safety Audits.
Support the Values Based Safety Process.
Job Description (Continued):
Communicate food safety/sanitation/quality programs to plant supervisors and hourly employees and ensure compliance with these ADM standards.
Prepare the facility for, and participate in, regulatory/third party/customer/company audits.
Maintain the plant sanitation at levels that ensure we are inspection ready at all times.
Job Requirements :
Ideal candidate should have a degree in a related field such as Milling Science &/or 5+ years of hands-on production management experience. Milling experience with both soft and hard wheats is a plus. This position will require an excellent command of the following: leadership, problem solving, self-motivation, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Outlook). The considered candidate will have a confident and courteous manner, established leadership skills, and a strong commitment to employee safety. The candidate must be able to hear and speak clearly, read, comprehend and communicate orally and in writing. Position requires standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and working with tools, working within close-confined spaces and working within extreme temperatures.
