Posting Number: 19-00320-UP/FA Post Position Title: Design Engineer Position Number: Consultant - Non-Employee Full-Time/Part-Time: Full Time **Summary of Responsibilities** This position will support various diverse customer programs effort as a Design engineer. Tasks may include detail modeling, airframe structural/system configuration layouts and detail design including layouts, preliminary sizing, joints and part design with CATIA v5 utilizing metallic and composite materials. The design engineer will execute changes to CATIA models, drawings and other documents in support of the product, participating in trade studies, creating and maintaining ICDs (interface control documents), and coordination with customers. Some travel may be required. **Minimum Education** Bachelor or above degree in an Engineering Technical discipline by date of hire **Minimum Experience** At least 3 years of experience in aerospace design **Knowledge, skills and abilities** * Experience in CATIA V5 and Solidworks * Familiarity with NASA and/or FAA structural design standards * Experience with airframe, systems, or interior Design * Experience developing and modifying 3D models & drawings * Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 along with tolerance analysis capabilities * Airframe Layout Design * Metallic and Composite design and fabrication * Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Excellent writing and communication skills * Domestic travel up to 10% may be required **Additional Information** All employees of Wichita State University are expected to support the WSU Vision, Mission and Values and foster an environment of diversity in culture, thought and experience.
