As a Premix Production Manager at our new Animal Nutrition and Health Tonganoxie, KS location, you will l ead, monitor, and control the shift operation and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) activities with available resources. You will also coordinate the activities with the different interaction areas, training personnel, assuring good manufacturing practices and a safe and healthy work environment to produce the agreed volume of products whilst adhering to all best practices and relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the improvement of the overall performance of the plant by participating in the Production Management Team meetings and all safety meetings. Help maintain the Premix Plant IT and Security equipment.

  • Track and inform the Plant Manager on performance related to SHE, Productivity, and Operator related concerns at the end of each shift for an efficient hand off.

  • Track usage of ingredients to ensure continued production of finished materials and maintain accurate inventory.

  • Conduct production related work in SAP, PCS and other applicable systems as required.

  • Understand and lead compliance with dsm-firmenich SHE programs including Lock Out Tag Out Try Out (LOTOTO), Confined Space Entry, Safe Powder Handling, Forklift safety, Use of proper PPE, and all other dsm-firmenich SHE requirements.

  • Support the Plant Manager in investigating asset utilization issues as well as any incident investigations relating to SHE, Quality, Reliability, and Traceability.

    You bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent for this role.

  • Experience with Automation Engineering/Robotics and/or startups a plus.

  • Experience in manufacturing and quality systems with an understanding of weights and measurements along with blend plant equipment knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Minimum of 3 years in a production role with progressive responsibilities.

  • Understanding of Regulatory requirements (OSHA), SHE, ISO, HACCP, and cGMPS.

  • The ability to talk with various levels of personnel within the business, including operators, functional department colleagues, managers and at times with external audit bodies and customers.

  • Ability to keep the area running in a safe, efficient manner, with a goal to keep department team members motivated and satisfied. This requires the ability to multi-task, handle stress, function calmly in emergency situations and effectively deal with personnel issues. Because the end use of the product affects patient safety, there is a need to be very knowledgeable in the quality system requirements to being reasonably well-versed in technical aspects of the process. Good judgment and decision making is imperative.
